How to create a unit

A unit is one trailer or cube you monitor. It belongs to a site (a job or yard). You need a signed SaaS agreement in the app before the dashboard will let you create units.

1. Add or pick a site

1. Sign in at app.eyeout.ca.
2. Open Sites.
3. Create a site if the job is new: name, address or GPS, and any dispatch notes.

The first site may already exist from your signup (HQ city). You can add more sites as jobs move.

2. Create the unit

1. Open Fleet (or the site) and choose Add unit.
2. Give it a label your team will recognize (fleet number, trailer name).
3. Set the NVR / camera platform if asked (UniFi Protect, Hikvision, Axis, or other).
4. Save.

You now have a unit record. It is not “online” until a field agent is claimed and the board can reach api.eyeout.ca.

3. Claim the field agent

Each EyeOut board has a claim QR (or a deviceId.secret code) from packing.

1. Open the unit → Field agent.
2. Scan the QR in the mobile app, or paste the claim code on the web.
3. Pick the solar / power template that matches the trailer (Cerbo, Solar Assistant, EG4, or none).
4. Confirm.

The agent then provisions: webhook URL, ingest secret, and heartbeat. When Ethernet (or the path you use) can reach the API, the unit shows online and telemetry starts.

4. If claim fails

• The code was already claimed to another unit — ops can Detach or Transfer trailer, then you claim again.
• The board has no identity — it was not flashed at the pack station.
• The site has no network path to https://api.eyeout.ca.
